Cremation Funeral Prices

At Hornsea Funeral Services we work hard to make sure a suitable and dignified funeral services is accessible to anyone in need. Below you will find some examples of the different options available to give you an indication of all the associated funeral costs. OPTION 1 - DIRECT CREMATION

  • A direct cremation is a cremation without a service. It is an affordable option which can give families the flexibility to remember their loved one in their own way. If a direction cremation is suitable for your needs, rest assured there would be no compromise on our commitment to take care of your loved one. The direct cremation includes:
  • Our professional services
  • Viewing in our chapel of rest during office hours only
  • A hearse to bring your loved one direct from our premises to the crematorium
  • A ‘standard’ coffin
  • Direct cremation at a crematorium – with no mourners present
  • Doctors’ fees (where applicable)
  • A simple ashes container is provided as standard

We kindly request that the full account is paid within 48 hours of arranging the funeral. A direct cremation does not include a funeral service or any mourners to be present. The coffin we provide will usually be a set design.  If your loved one is over 18 stone or 6ft 4’ then we will need to charge a coffin supplement fee of £50. We welcome viewing however kindly request that appointments are made within office hours only.

OPTION 2 - GOODBYE SERVICE

  • 15 minute service at Lelley Fields Crematorium included

  • Professional celebrant provided as part of the service

OPTION 3 - SIMPLE CREMATION

  • A simple cremation is our base funeral service which includes all the ‘essentials’ needed for a dignified ceremony for your loved one, broken down into the following:
  • All our professional services, including collecting your loved one from place of death. Viewing in our chapel of rest by appointment. A Funeral Director and pall bearers on the day of the funeral. A hearse to bring your loved one to the crematorium
  • A traditional wood effect coffin
  • Cremation and service at a crematorium
  • Average cost of a celebrant or officiant to conduct the funeral service
  • Doctors’ fees (where applicable)
  • A simple container for ashes is provided as standard from the crematorium

Extra requirements such as limousines, flowers, newspaper notice, upgraded coffin etc… may all be added to our service for the relevant fees, some of which are set out at the bottom of this page. Alternative venues, such as churches or other crematoria will also incur different costs.

OPTION 4 - TRADITIONAL CREMATION

  • A traditional veneered wood coffin

  • A limousine which seats 6 passengers
  • A simple container for ashes is provided as standard from the crematorium

Below is a further example. This time of a horse-drawn cremation with the same additions of a standard coffin, limousine, flowers and a newspaper notice.

OPTION 5 - HORSE DRAWN CREMATION

  • A black horse-drawn hearse to bring your loved one to the funeral service via the address of your choice. (White horses and other carriage options also available)
  • A traditional veneered wood coffin
  • Cremation and service at a crematorium
  • Average cost of a celebrant or officiant to conduct the funeral service
  • Doctors’ fees (if applicable)
  • A limousine which seats 6 passengers
  • A simple container for ashes is provided as standard from the crematorium

Any other requirements such as orders of service, urns or even other crematoria can be added onto and changed within the above prices. Examples of these can be found below.

Cremation Prices Breakdown & Extras

A funeral comprises a number of elements such as our professional fees, vehicles, choice of coffin and third party costs. The costs below are a further guide to how these are broken down. This will give you an indication of price for a tailored funeral service.

Our professional services include:

  • Collecting your loved one and bringing them into our care. (Includes out of hours at no extra charge)
  • 24 hours support and guidance
  • Informing you of your options for the funeral and making the necessary arrangements on your behalf – including liaising with 3rd parties
  • The preparation and presentation of your loved one and the use of a private viewing room by appointment
  • The necessary personnel required to carry out the funeral on the day
  • The supply of a traditional black hearse to bring your loved one to their funeral

We can offer various coffins and caskets, the starting price for a traditional wooden veneered coffin is £319. We are also available to offer biodegradable coffins such as cardboard, willow or banana leaf. Please ask us for more information.

These are the costs which we pay to 3rd parties on your behalf. Examples of some of these costs can be found below:

  • Doctor’s fees (for cremations only) – £82 (this price is subject to change due to Covid 19 regulations)
  • Example humanist minister fee £200 (this may vary)
  • Example religious minister fee £220 (this may vary)

  • Limousine to seat 6 passengers – £200
  • Horse drawn hearse – from £1050
  • Motorcycle hearse, VW campervan hearse or other specialist hearse – prices vary, please ask for further details.
  • Reception into home / Church (the day before the service) – £300
  • Newspaper notice – £120 (average price)
  • Flowers – from £40
  • Orders of service (4 Page) – £2 per copy
  • Orders of service (8 Page) – £4 per copy
  • Webcasting of service (where available) – from £50
  • Photo slideshow tribute at crematoria – from £50
  • Urns / Ashes Caskets / Ashes Jewellery – From £25. Various styles available to order. Please ask to see our brochures.
  • Ashes interment in a cemetery (with an existing lease) – £278
  • Funeral Director attendance at interment of ashes – £50 (With limousine – £225)
  • Extra Pallbearers – from £80
